Medical Education in the Endoscopy Suite
Learning objectives:
- To create a comprehensive plan for teaching endoscopy to trainees by setting individualized goals, and using formalized tools for assessment of progress and identifying areas for improvement.
- To apply the concept of conscious competence in teaching endoscopy.
- To evaluate the effectiveness of using case reviews and debriefing as tools to promote reflective learning among trainees in endoscopy.

Dr. Samir C. Grover is a gastroenterologist and clinician-educator serving as the Executive Vice-President, Academics at Scarborough Health Network (SHN). He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto. Dr. Grover completed his MD, internal medicine residency, and gastroenterology residency at the University of Toronto, followed by a fellowship in Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy at St. Michael's Hospital under Dr. Norman Marcon. He holds a Master of Education in Higher Education in the Health Professions from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. He was the director for the Adult Gastroenterology Residency Program at the University of Toronto from 2018 to 2023, among many other education leadership roles. His clinical practice areas of interest are in endoluminal therapeutic endoscopy, and management of allergic, immune, and rare conditions of the gastrointestinal system.
