As a GI Resident, we encourage you to join us for a session that will help you better navigate your career decisions in gastroenterology. Come and hear from various leaders and learn from their experiences. Tell your GI resident colleague about it and become a member of the OAG to benefit!

Dr. Scott Shulman, MD, FRCP(C)

Dr. Scott Shulman was born and raised in North Bay, Ontario. He did his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at McMaster University. He completed his Medical Degree in 1999 at the University of Western Ontario. Scott went on to complete his Internal Medicine residency at Michigan State University and Western University respectively. He also completed a fellowship in IBD and Therapeutic Endoscopy at Western.

Dr. Nitasha Anand, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Nitasha Anand completed medical school at Queen's University and her Gastroenterology residency at the University of Toronto and had been working at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital since 2011.

 

 

Dr. Smita L. S. Halder, MBChB, MRCP, MRes, PhD

Associate Professor in Gastroenterology, McMaster University

Master Certified Physician Development Coach, The Physician Coach Inc.

Dr. Halder is an Associate Professor and Gastroenterologist at McMaster University.  Smita obtained her medical degrees from Cambridge and Edinburgh Universities. After completing GIM training and GI residency in the UK, she pursued a 4 year PhD in Epidemiology, incorporating a year at the Mayo Clinic.  In 2008 she moved to Toronto for a fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital; in 2010 was appointed to the Division of Gastroenterology at McMaster, where she combines clinical, research and teaching roles. Smita is a senior administrative leader at Hamilton Health Sciences and focusses on wellness, the physician experience, and leadership development at HHS. She is qualified as a Master Certified Physician Development Coach, her goal is to establish a coaching faculty across HHS and McMaster.

Dr. Lindsay Crabbe, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Crabbe is a gastroenterologist who has been practicing in Barrie since 2013. She has active staff privileges at Royal Victoria Hospital and Georgian Bay General Hospital. She is the medical director of Barrie Endoscopy, an out of hospital endoscopy premise located in Barrie. She is an executive member of the Ontario Association of Clinic Endoscopists (OACE).  She completed medical school, Internal Medicine residency training, and a fellowship in Gastroenterology/Hepatology at McMaster University. She practices general gastroenterology with a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease and liver disease.  Outside of gastroenterology she is a busy mother of three and loves to spend time being active outdoors.

 

Dr. Youstina Samy Kamal Hanna, MD, FRCPC 

I completed my medical school at the University of Ottawa, before moving to Toronto to complete my internal medicine and gastroenterology training. I am currently completing a therapeutic endoscopy fellowship at St. Michael’s Hospital. I am passionate about teaching and hope to work in an academic setting. Outside of work, I love to play tennis and travel.
